AI Workflows

Role:
Lead UX Designer

Web App

+70% Adoption Rate

I led the redesign of a market research company's AI chat tool, transforming it from an underused interface into a streamlined workspace tailored to social researchers' daily tasks. Grounded in user research and core UX principles, the new design introduced layered workflows for content curation, meta-analysis, and tagging, helping users navigate complexity with greater efficiency and clarity.

Research & Problem
Users were opening the tool, unsure how to start, and leaving quickly. I interviewed five researchers and found a range of needs—organizing interview transcripts, analyzing surveys, and managing multiple projects. We reviewed other AI tools and focused on five principles: guide 🗺 users, allow customization🤳, ensure transparency 🗣, use clear visual 🎨 cues, and protect privacy🔐. Early concepts included a prompt library, structured workflows, and shortcut actions. User testing revealed a strong need for task-based navigation over fully custom prompts.

Design Solutions

Structured Workflows

Pre-built workflows for tasks like coding and translation were added directly to the interface, helping users start quickly without needing to write custom prompts.

Customizable Workspaces

Users could organize chats by project, adjust settings, and save frequently used actions—making it easier to manage multiple research efforts in one place.

Built In Guidance for Blank Screen Anxiety

Features like prompt suggestions, FAQs, and visual indicators showed users what to do next, while explanations and warnings improved trust in AI-generated outputs.

Conclusion

The new look and feel was sleek, with a dark mode theme that gave it a modernized edge.
